Friends of Punch Queenstown Vineyard Shiraz 2015

_DSC9043.jpg

Friends of Punch was born following the loss of the 2009 vintage fruit at Lance’s Vineyard, St Andrews during the Victorian Bushfires.

It has been produced with help from other vineyards who generously lent their support by asking, how can we help? The answer was simple — sell us some grapes! And they did. In each case they shared significant portions of their scant, wonderful crop.

These grapes are grown at the wonderful Queenstown Vineyards in St Andrews, Nillumbik Yarra Valley, but rather than read about the wine why not hear about it from the winemaker, James Lance.

Natural ferment, 40% whole bunches, hand plunged and foot stomped, then matured in used french oak barrels for 16 months. Bottled without fining or filtration.

Raspberry and dark plum nose, red and black licorice, hard spices, cedar and florals. Rich on the fore palate, with an elegant and complex flow of fruits, spices and oak. Finishes with long fine emery tannins, which will silken with further ageing to 2022.
